Hey, I’m Ed, a seasoned multimedia design lead based in Leicestershire, UK. I’ve been immersed in graphic design and creative arts since my teenage years, scoring my first freelance gig at 16 for a local skateboard shop. I pursued this passion through diplomas and eventually earned a BA Hons degree from the University of Lincoln UK, where I gained several design awards and commissions, including YCN (Young Creative Network) design award, ISTD (International Society of Typographic Designers) award and D&AD (Design and Art Direction) recommendation award.

Following my studies, I ventured into some freelance work and secured full-time positions at companies like Ruby+Ed and Jellyfish Creative, before landing my current role as Head of Creative Design at Williams Racing F1 team. My journey truly took flight at Ruby+Ed, where I swiftly transitioned from an in-house graphic designer to lead creative and eventually, brand guardian and creative director. This role allowed me to collaborate with diverse professionals, from photographers to web developers, crafting compelling narratives and visuals for seasonal campaigns that elevated the brand and resonated with consumers.

In 2013-2014, I embarked on an exciting venture with ex-England Rugby star Ian Hunter at his Northampton-based agency, Jellyfish Creative, where I expanded my creative horizons by delving into web development and brand transformation projects across various mediums.

Later in 2014, an opportunity arose to join Williams F1 team, where I served as the digital design lead, collaborating closely with Avanade to drive a digital revolution in Formula One. Our efforts not only led to the development of an industry-leading web presence but also revolutionized social media engagement through innovative infographics, earning us the “Social Media Index Award 2016.”

Shortly after joining Williams, I was entrusted with the role of Design Manager, leading the creative department, and shaping it into an in-house creative services powerhouse leading creative across all functions of the business including commercial / sponsorships, race team branding, events, merchandising, internal and external events.

During recent years as head of the department, I led the team to numerous successful initiatives. Notably, I played a pivotal role in securing multiple partnership deals, which significantly bolstered our team’s achievements. Among our successes, the Gulf Oil X Williams Livery campaign stands out, marking a milestone in our creative endeavours. Additionally, I led the team in seamlessly integrating partners, exemplified by our collaboration on the Duracell F1 branding as well as multiple on track brand campaigns, which further solidified our reputation for innovative and impactful design solutions.
